Orthodox Churches
This term refers collectively to the Eastern Churches that recognize the patriarch of Constantinople as having a primacy of honor in the Church. Each Orthodox Church is governed by a patriarch or metropolitan and has its distinctive liturgical and theological tradition. The Orthodox Churches separated from the Western Church in 1054.
